This grant can assist with fees associated with taking your certification or licensing test for a skilled trade. This grant can also assist Veterans who want to improve on their professional development by attending a conference or taking professional development courses.

There are many different types of jobs in *skilled trades, such as in manufacturing, technology, construction, healthcare, and they are generally categorized into three main areas:

• Industrial - Programming skilled trades: These include jobs like welders, mechanics, machinists, tool and die makers, and computer programmers.
• Construction skilled trades: Jobs in these sectors involve trades commonly seen in the construction sector, such as carpenters, bricklayers, insulators, electricians, plumbers, and gasfitters.
• Service and Healthcare skilled trades: These trades form a part of the service sector. These include nurses, orderlies, aides, therapists, and service technicians.
• Other: Real Estate, Administrative, Culinary, Music, Arts, Beauty, etc.

*A skilled trade is recognized as professionals who either need to attend a trade school, receive specialized training, or work as apprentices to gain the training they need to carry out their duties.

Hats Off For Veterans Inc offers financial assistance to honorably discharged Veterans only. The application asks questions about your military service. A DD214 must be provided as proof of service. Questions about your present county of residence and financial status is also on the application, as well as your present work and employment history. Based on all the answers on your application, this will determine if the Scholarship and Grants Committee will award the funds to you to cover the cost of your certificate or license.

The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant application is available online and can be downloaded at any time. We ask that you allow up to 3-4 weeks for a response once submitted for review. Grants are distributed through a company check that will be mailed to you. Please allow yourself enough time to apply for the funds, if needed ahead of time.

If you have paid, taken a skills test and passed, you can request reimbursement for your receipt for up to $500. Please note, the receipt must not be dated older than one month from the date that you submit it to our office for consideration. Again, if you submit your receipt today, please make sure the date of your receipt is not older than ONE MONTH from today's date. Thank you.
