THE 2025-2026 SCHOLARSHIP OPENS FEBRUARY 1, 2025.
- The purpose of our Higher Education Scholarship Fund is to underscore our commitment to Texas Veterans in their pursuit of higher education. This includes both 4-year and 2-year programs. The Scholarship Committee allocates available funds to honorably discharged Veterans who are seeking their first undergraduate degree.
- The award amount is $2,000 per academic year. This amount is distributed in two payments of $1,000 per semester, once proof of enrollment and registration are submitted to our office. Please note the money (check) will not be released until one month from the first day of school to ensure the veteran is still registered and attending school.
- There will be TWO HOFV awards in 2025 in the amount of $2,000.
- The number of awards distributed depends on the scholarship account balance during that particular application period. The goal is to award 4-5 scholarships per school year. This is why it is imperative that our fundraisers, including our annual fundraiser, O:HOFV, is a huge success every year, so we can continue to assist Veterans and their educational goals. - The MSG Jimmie Quintero Scholarship is funded annually by U.S. Army Master Sergeant (retired) Jimmie Quintero and his wife, Shin Quintero, in the amount of $1,000. This grant is for a veteran who has been accepted and registered at a college or university for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year and must be entering college as a freshman. There will be ONE MSG JQ Scholarship awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year in the amount of $1,000.
- Applicants will have the responsibility of adhering to the guidelines and policy set forth by the Scholarship Committee to meet eligibility. These guidelines are listed on the scholarship application.
- The 2025-2026 Academic Year Scholarship Application opens February 1, 2025. There will be TWO scholarship awards in the amount of $2,000. - The winner will also be notified by email and/or phone.
- The award will be distributed by a company check in the fall of 2025, once the student has provided proof of enrollment and registration information for the semester.
*THE MSG JIMMIE QUINTERO ENDOWMENT
The MSG Jimmie Quintero Endowment is an annual, generous donation from U.S. Army Master Sergeant (retired) Jimmie Quintero and his wife, Shin, in the amount of $1,000. This donation will be supporting the HOFV Inc. Higher Education Scholarship Program.

The Hazlewood Act is a State of Texas benefit that provides qualified Veterans, spouses, and dependent children with an education benefit of up to 150 hours of tuition exemption, including most fee charges, at public institutions of higher education in Texas. However, this does NOT include living expenses, books, or supply fees. This is why the HOFV mission is very important. We strive to raise funds to help Veterans cover these additional costs that are not covered.
