Andrew proudly served in the United States Army and Texas Army National Guard for over 13 years. He enlisted in 1995 and commissioned as an Armor officer in 2001. He deployed to Iraq in 2003 with the 4th Infantry Division as a Tank Platoon Leader before taking over the Task Force Mortar Platoon during high-intensity combat operations in Samarra. Over the course of his service, he also led training and development programs for officer candidates, commanded a 231-soldier Headquarters Company, and supported disaster relief efforts during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He left the Army as a Captain in 2008, owning and operating several businesses, and worked for the State for 4 years.

In 2025, Andrew launched The G2 Connection, a trauma recovery coaching and mental health education practice. Inspired by his own journey with PTSD and moral injury, Andrew now helps fellow veterans, first responders, and trauma survivors heal through coaching, connection, and post-traumatic growth.

He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Military and Trauma Psychology, is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM®), and is deeply committed to serving the veteran community worldwide.

He has lived in Kyle since 2004 and is married to Bonnie Hughson. They have three children (Natalie, Doss, and Cade).
