THE MSG JIMMIE QUINTERO ENDOWMENT FUND IS DONATED ANNUALLY TO HATS OFF FOR VETERANS BY U.S. ARMY MASTER SERGEANT (RETIRED) JIMMIE QUINTERO AND HIS WIFE, SHIN, IN THE GENEROUS AMOUNT OF $1,000.
Jimmie Quintero was born and raised in mid-Manhattan. “I joined the U.S. Army on July 11, 1966, as a seventeen-year-old hooligan from New York City,” he quipped.
His first duty was to be a cook during the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) Conflict, which is sometimes referred to as the Second Korean War.
His initial assignment was to cook in Ft. Hood, TX but he decided to apply to the United States Army Intelligence Center of Excellence (USAICoE), which is the United States Army's school for professional training of military intelligence personnel and soon, his Army career took a whole new route.
His assignments were in tactical and strategic intelligence and included prisoner of war (POW) interrogations and intelligence analysis.
After 26 years, Jimmie retired as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army.
"Shin and I are honored to pay it forward to help a student to achieve their educational goals."
