Rhonda Hampton-Byars is a retired U.S. Navy Commander and Nurse Corps officer with more than 25 years of experience in nursing, military service, education, and health and wellness advocacy.
She holds a BSN from Texas Woman’s University, a master’s degree in education from American Intercontinental University, and a Health & Wellness Coach certification from Duke University. Rhonda has served in senior clinical and leadership roles with the Department of Veterans Affairs, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington.
A combat nurse advisor deployed to Afghanistan, she brings extensive experience supporting service members, veterans, and families through crisis response, reintegration, and mental health education. She currently serves as a Wellness Champion with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and proudly represents Hats Off For Veterans as the Region 2 Representative, advancing outreach, advocacy, and resources for Texas veterans and their families.
